Sovereign Subject
Sovereign Subject
Using the format of classical portraiture, this work challenges the historical absence of lesbian identity, specifically in fine art. The figure, half-nude and cloaked in color, replaces the idealized female muse with a 'sovereign subject'. Her gaze is not passive. It is unflinching. It confronts and defies. As a LGBTQ+ artist, my existence and self-expression remain radical acts. This hand-drawn digital piece speaks to visibility and resistance. It asserts that queerness belongs not on the margins of history, but at its very center. We demand space, reverence, and the right to be seen on our own terms.
